"Firstly, this is not the first time I've bought a car on credit. This is also our household's 4th vehicle. I bought this vehicle brand new, but was told by BankFin that I can't have a better interest rate, as the vehicle's value is not high enough!! Since I was planning for an overseas trip and the vehicle was a surprise for a household member, I didn't have much time to shop around. Second comes the service - or lack thereof. Besides numerous other complaints, I have also been contacted by Absa insurance last year to provide proof of comprehensive insurance. Since I don't carry my policy details with me, I provided the name and contact details of my broker which they wouldn't accept and said they would phone again the following day - which they didn't. Imagine my surprise when I get a letter from them telling me that I haven't been able to prove that I have insurance, therefore they will load my premium with an extra amount every month and that I must notice that this does not constitute insurance, but is only there to protect Absa's "financial interest" and that I should still ensure that I have comprehensive insurance. What happens when I phone to complain? THEY CAN'T FIND ME OR MY CAR ON THEIR DATABASE! However, this did not stop them from managing to deduct my monthly premium as well as the extra amount I have been charged because they are incapable of doing their jobs! PATHETIC - this is why we have in the past 2 years moved our bond from them, as well as bank accounts and this will be the last vehicle ever financed by them!"
