After switching to AA from another insurer (partly due to good reviews on this site) it took me the better part of two weeks and 4 phone calls to get a copy of the policy documents - only to find that the information provided during the telephonic underwriting process had been incorrectly transcribed. The claims history that I had provided was not there and all the driver details werer incorrect. Another few frustrating phone calls and I still did not have the policy documents with the corrected info. Only when threatening to withdraw the policy did someone finally make sure that I got the documents. Not impressed.

This insurance uses Pirate products(which they call alternative parts) for your car when you have claimed for an accident.They dont even explain to you as a client.They are reaping off the clients and claiming to be the insurance for Women whereas its First for Worse.

The premiums have increased from R384,00 to 584,00 in a period of two years. If you cleam, then it's punish the member. They are just there for your money. A rip off.

I would not recommend dial direct as I do not know how did they get to calculating their premuims, my excess is R8000 and I only drive a Tata not a mercedes which does not make sense if you ask them they cant explain how they get to that ridiculous amount.

not happy with my service, after my accident, my car is not 100%, what is the use we have insurance and they dont cover everything, giving a car back in good condition

Auto & General - worst insurers. My debit order dates were never kept to the 1st as instructed. If you miss a premuim the next month you pay a premuim and R330 initiation fee. Other insurers just don't insure you for that month. Worst experience when my car was stolen they did not liaise with the finance company in time to settle the top up cover portion then started hammering me to pay it over. Excuses upon excuses left me stressed out and finally I did all the running around between the finance company, the underwriter for the insurance and the underwriters for the shortfall. Auto & General just sat back and their call centre agents were of no help.

Took four months to process claim. Took every cent they could and their employees at Durban branch is a joke!!!!!!!!!!STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This year my wife and I bought our first car together. We are both graduates and a very new to the working world. After 3 months of contributions to Unity we had to claim after someone crashed into our car in a parking area. It took them a mere one week and a hefty phone bill for me to inform me that they will not be able to cover us due to a certificate that they did not receive from us upon registering with them. This information was offcourse not stressed to us when we joined them. We decided to cancel our membership with them. They are however still deducting money from us. Their customer help line is pathetic.

When purchasing a new car, I had a call from Unity claiming to be (the auto dealers) official insurance provider. Caught off gaurd I was forced into an overpriced policy. 24 hours later I tried to cancel my agreement, after having not signed anything, my policy had already been trasnferred to African Independent (I assume underwriters) in Pretoria and was blocked. Unity then debited R1000 from my account and only a month later, after being disconnected several times I managed to cancel the mal-brokered policy and switch to a better insurer. Boo.

I took an insurance about 2 years ago. Recently I got involved in an accident and have been taken from pillar to post for my claim. It has been 3 weeks and nothing is done to my claim. No one calls me and I have to call each time to ask of progress and everytime I am told there is something missing. i have been covered with Santam for over ten years now and i regret changing to Prosper. The service is terrible
