With the high costs associated with having and maintaining a car or a home, car and home insurance is a necessary expense. Should your car or house be damaged in any way, whether by accident or due to another reason, insurance can ensure you do not have to pay for repairs from you own pocket. ThinkMoney subscribers reviewed and rated different car insurance providers available on the market. The car insurers were evaluated according to their experience with the product in regards to service, the claims process, excess, flexibility and premiums. These features were all rated out of a maximum rating of 5.
The highest score was awarded by ThinkMoney users to Alexander Forbes, which got a 4.1 overall star rating. The highest scores were to for excellent service and a simple claims process. With reviewers commenting, “Flexibility of the product that I was offered, probably clinched the deal for me” and “Great service, prompt attention and advice for claims”. 82% of reviewers were willing to recommend the product to others.
Outsurance scored 3.9 stars for their overall rating. With 303 reviews on the products offered by Outsurance, 75% of them were recommendations of the product. Service offered by Outsurance was highly rated with customers pointing to speedy service and hassle-free claims that are paid promptly. However, high premiums were a common complaint among reviewers.
Mutual and Federal was given a 3.9 star rating out of 83 reviews. 76% of reviewers were willing to recommend the product to others, mentioning service and the claims process as stand out features for the product. ThinkMoney subscriber Jill Mitchell mentioned that although her premium for household and car insurance was quite high, the cover was comprehensive and the claims were dealt with efficiently.
A 3.6 star rating was given to Hollard. 74% of 92 reviews were recommendations of the product. A high standard of service was emphasised by ThinkMoney subscribers, however a slow claims process was a criticism for some.
1st for Women was given a 3.3 star rating from reviewers, pointing out reasonable premiums and service as reasons for recommending this product to others. More than 50% of the reviews were a recommendation. Value-added benefits were also a bonus for reviewers. For example, the Guardian Angel project, which is a breakdown assistance initiative designed to assist and guard woman motorists if they have a mechanical breakdown, a flat battery or a flat tyre in a dangerous place. A Guardian Angel is dispatched when a woman feels unsafe to either assist with the problem or “guard” the woman until help arrives.
Finally, Auto & General was rated 3.1 stars. The product was reviewed more than 100 times, with reviewing pointing out great service and reasonable premiums offered by the company.
