Lots of people with homeloans from Nedbank recommend that its the best especially when coming to financial assistance and when you want to add a room or a garage to your home , i already took out a home loan with another bank when i realized that most Nedbank home loan customers are satisfied with their service provider but please elaborate more on switching banks when coming to this topic on your reply to this review thank you Mr ER Mafora.

I have been a Nedbank client for more than 25 years and I applied for a home loan. After six weeks they didn't approve my application but in that six weeks they let me know that the application is approved but only need more info like tax returns. Now after six weeks I lost R80 000 and have no home to go to. So I believe NEDBANK it is only small talk, no client comes first with NEDBANK.

I am a Nedbank account holder and my bond is with them. They don;t want to give us a second bond and we end up taking out personal loans finish my building. Now we are in more debt, because of the installments. If they can still take over the personal loans then we will be fine. I hope the housing managers can review there strategy and see that we as clients will affort it. None of the debits was ever returned by the banks.

Standard Bank home loan is a problem, when you experience financial hardships. Their debt review section's service is not consumer friendly. Frankly I believe they will go all out to frustrate the process, which is meant to protect the consumer, and even lie that they never received notification letters, even when you send them proof. They will set debt collectors on you and add the costs to your account, without notifying you, and are more likely to challenge the debt restructuring in court.

My husband had an account with them and when my mother-in-law passed they did not help with that matter. Instead of helping him the referred him to the manager. The manager told him he must came back after 7 working days but the funeral was on Saturday, so he begged them for his money. Can you imagine that?

As a first time home owner applicant they only approving 90%. I now need to put myself in more debt. As a young person with ambition I think this is unacceptable. I have not yet agreed to this as Im sure there are other banks that can give me more!

FNB is the best. They were so patient with me when I was going through financial difficulties which I could not mention to the bank. They gave three different arrangements which I defaulted but still they would give me a chance. I respect the Home Loans staff. One lady who is a team leader said to me I should be strong and I must not cry in front of my kids no matter how difficult the situation can be. She said I must put the phone down and calm she will call the following day and she did. Those were words from a mother and a professional. Now i am happy.

I applied for a home loan as I'am a 1st time owner,they did'nt even contact me after 1 month I called then I was told that I did'nt get the loan.

Getting a homeloan is not the problem. When times are difficult (I believe that this downturn was created by banks) the wheels come off. I had a written arrangement to settle arrears with FNB (with which I complied fully) and a promise from them to stop legal action. A summons was delivered a month later. Banking Oombudsman did nothing. Later, after arrears fully caught up, they refused debt counselling. When I queried this they said they are looking into it and then applied for my wife's (homeowner) liquidation because of the debt counselling application! If you have a home of high value and a relatively low bond - my bond is about 30% of home value) they go for the house! I am encouraging my children to never utilise bank finance in their lives through saving and investment.

Their home loan department is really not up to standard. We applied for a home loan in August 2011 and until today have not even gotten a yes or no. We eventualy went to another bank and got an answer within a week. FNB, please do something about your home loan department!

They are the worst. As a Platinum account holder, they declined my application without even giving me a reason. It was only when I probed that I found out there was an error of double payments on my spouses credit card. The worst.

Tried for a home loan as a first time buyer. Have been a client there my whole life now, but they refused to give me one. Went through SA Homeloans got a 100% loan.

ABSA approved my building loan back in 2009. After I have started building they withdrew the loan because the banks “policy’s” has changed. Now I am sitting with a lot of debt and ABSA says that there was no guarantee. Watch out for ABSA they do not care about their clients the only look after their own pockets.
